I finished checking the papers of the first class test just before the start of the holidays and I was saddened! Out of full marks of 15, the pass marks is 6(40% of full marks)! I felt so sad that very few students reached that grade. a few 6 and beyond and about 10 was the highest. Yet, all the while I was thinking that the question paper was fairly straightforward. looks like I was wrong entirely. It was quite obvious many of them has not even studied much of the subject.
On another platform I am going through a debate about the need for grooming and basic skills an engineering student must have! I would think the issue is people coming out must have the necessary skills, that is of prime importance. Grooming is only a layer of polish! If you do not have a basic raw gemstone, however much of polish would not make it a desirable item for the recruiters.
Sir, I don`t know of my seniors but many guys in our batch (3rd yr) think they are quite furnished in the grooming section.Very helpful if they are but personally I don`t have much faith in their confidence. There has been grooming classes alloted to all but its always an empty glass for the teacher.I think at least 1 class should be made mandatory or some constraints be placed in term of marks to make students a bit more aware.
ReplyDeleteI do agree with you sir. Being a average grade student throughout my student carer, I know scoring at least 50% marks is not much problematic if one attend classes even if not studied at all as you said question paper was quite straight forward.
ReplyDeletewhat I feel, probably they did not find much interest on the topic, and that's the reason behind it.
